i just bought "bringing home the birkin," which is all about one man's journey to buy an hermes birkin and how difficult it is to get one...

it's really quite an amusing story.

I am currently reading "Julie & Julia" by Julie Powell. I am about 1/4 through the book. It covers more of her everyday life than the movie based on this book did.

As a companion purchase I also picked up "Julia's Kitchen Wisdom" by Julia Child, a slim 115 page volume that I have found extremely helpful.
